Aaron & Hope’s wedding was really special for us. Not only did we film their wedding, but we also photographed their wedding! This was our first wedding to do both photography and videography. It’s not very often we get to do this, but man was it special to capture this wedding in two different mediums. We had the honor of photographing them for their engagement photos and we had a BLAST. The inside jokes we made that day — which included a herd of cattle affectionately dubbed “the girls” — made several appearances 7 months later on their wedding day…and it was amazing.
This venue was tucked back in the faint beginnings of the Texas Hill Country, south of Fort Worth. You can see it for yourself in the epic drone shots, but there’s this enormous oak tree (which, come to find out, is really a tightly-knit cluster of five oak trees — hence the name “Five Oak Farms”) right in front of the white-washed barn accented with dark-stained wood. It was here where we met Aaron and Hope (and “the girls”) that overcast November day for their engagement photos and it was here where they pledged their love for one another 7 months later as bride & groom.
Hope radiates joy and laughter that was infectious for the entire wedding day. You couldn’t stop smiling when you were around her. And when she put her dress on, cool quietness consumed the girls’ room and resulted in many short breaths held in brief pause as the reality of what was to come set in. We had to remind ourselves to breath as we filmed.
Aaron maintained his composure for the majority of the day. His guys kept it light and would jokingly prod him to get a gauge on how he was feeling, but as the day went on, and especially when he saw Hope, his bride, for the first time walking down the flagstone aisle, everyone was clued in on what he was feeling and thinking because he wore it plain as day on his face.
The rest of the day, it was hard to look away because the love between Aaron and Hope was genuine, real and hopeful. It was the sum of years in waiting having dated since high school. It was the manifestation and most vivid picture of everything they believed. It was new and fresh, a deeper plunge into their relationship with one another that neither had experienced before. And it represented only the beginning.
